When: Saturday December 16th, 2:30 CBSSN
Current spread: WKU -6, O/U 52
All-time series: WKU 1-0
The WKU offense seemed to lack some of its spark this season with the departure of Head Coach Jeff Brohm. But the Hilltoppers still turned in a season worthy of a getting a bowl game. Mike White was still at the helm on the field, putting up impressive numbers again. He passed for 3,826 yds with 24 TDs and 7 int. As in years past, WKU had a plethora of targets on the field. A group of WRs, led by Nacarius Fant, lit up scoreboards each week. TE Deon Yelder was a red zone threat that you couldn’t ignore. The running game is where the Hilltoppers seemed to fall short. Leading rusher, D’Andre Ferby only had 362 yds with 3 TDs.
Georgia State should be able to answer WKU blow for blow offensively. Conner Manning (2,870 yds, 13/7) will be leading the offense on the field. His main target is sophomore WR Penny Hart. 73 catches for 1,094 yds and 8 TDs are numbers that will keep the WKU secondary on its heels all game. Like WKU, Georgia State didn’t rely much on the running game. Leading rusher Glenn Smith had 526 yds with 3 TDs.
This game will almost assuredly feature a lot of offense and very little defense. If both QBs are on top of their game, this will be a close one. It’ll be nice and warm in Orlando, I look for this game to hit the over.
