The Bowl season kicks off with Troy (Sun Belt) vs UNT (CUSA). Troy leads the all-time series 8-2. This is an interesting matchup.
Troy now has a healthy Jordan Chunn (774 yds, 10 TD) at RB to complement QB Brandon Silvers (2,985 yds, 13/6). He has been the major cog in the Troy offense the last two years. Troy can spread the ball around a bit on offense too. 3 WRs, each with 400+ yds, are good targets for Silvers.
UNT boasts the CUSA offensive POY in sophomore QB Mason Fine. Mason threw for 3,749 yds, 28 TD, 13 int. And he has weapons. 4 WRs had over 500 yds receiving this season combining for 2,700+ yds and 22 TDs. 3 of these guys, like Fine, are sophomores as well. The Mean Green offense is in good hands for the next couple years. RB Jeffery Wilson (1,215 yds, 16 TD) is more than able to handle the running duties out of the backfield.
ESPN will be carrying this game. Expect an offensive outburst. On one hand, I like Troy’s experience. But the Mean Green can cause damage if you let them find their groove. The over could be hit early 4th quarter if they do.
