When: Saturday December 16th, 8:00, ESPN
Current spread: Arkansas State -3.5, O/U 62.5
All-time series: MTU 9-5
If MTU QB Brent Stockstill is 100%, this will be a fun game. He missed 6 games this season due to a shoulder injury. He finished the season strong though, so it looks good for the Blue Raiders.
Stockstill (1,440 yds, 14 TDs) will lead the offense for MTU. WR Ty Lee (74-916-5) will be his main target this Saturday. Those two are electric together. Running Back by committee seemed to work for MTU this season. Tavares Thomas (491 yds, 8 TDs) is a hard running guy who is hard to bring down. However, he is questionable at the time of this writing. Brad Anderson (491 yds) will be the man in the backfield if Thomas can’t go.
Arkansas State has weapons to spare. Justice Hansen is a 2-way threat. He passed for 3,630 yards and 34 TDs while rushing for 388 yards and 6 TDs. The Red Wolves have a 2-headed monster bolstering the running game. Warren Wand (669 yds, 6 TDs) and Johnston White (407 yds, 3 TDs) will both get a fair share of touches. Hansen’s targets are everywhere. WRs Justin McInnis (42-693-3) and Chris Murray (44-625-9) can stretch the field. TE Blake Mack (46-609-7) is a force to be reckoned with as well.
Vegas has the Red Wolves favored by 3.5 points. Maybe (probably) they know something I don’t. But I would lay the points and pound the over in this one. I’m looking forward to this game being a perfect way to spend a Saturday night. The beer is already cold.
