This game features 2 QBs that love to run. And how great is it for college football to see UAB, after a 2 year hiatus, make it to a bowl game in their 1st season back? What an outstanding job by head coach Bill Clark.
UAB QB AJ Erdely had a great season. 2,077 passing yards with 16 TDs. He also ran for another 13 TDs. WR Andre Wilson (48-619-6) is the man he’ll be looking for from the pocket. Spencer Brown (1,292 yds, 10 TDs) will keep the defense in check with the running game.
The Bobcats QB, Nathan Rourke, had an impressive season too. 2,018 passing yards with 15 TDs to go along with 882 rushing yards and 21 more TDs. This man can cause problems. He has a trio of WRs that keep the defense honest. Papi White (32-525-2), Brendan Cope (35-494-4), and Andrew Meyer (29-433-2) will all get touches. AJ Ouellette (980 yds, 7 TDs) will be running the ball for the Bobcats.
I think this will be a closer game than the spread is reflecting. It may be decided by a field goal. Both defenses will be studying tape up until game time to keep the dual threat QBs in check.
