Fiesta Bowl: Washington vs Penn State

When: Saturday December 30th, 4:00, ESPN

Current spread: PSU -2, O/U 55

All-time series: PSU 2-0

This game features a couple stars, two guys that are predicted to have great NFL careers. PAC-12 vs B1G, we all love it when the big boys square off. Jake Browning is a future NFL-er, and Saquon Barkley, we all know who he is too. He is still stating that he plans to play in this game.

Huskies QB Jake Browning (2,544-18-5) saw his numbers drop this season. A lack of weapons on the receiving end would be my first guess. I still think he’s a top talent. WR Dante Pettis (62-721-7) is nursing an ankle injury and is listed as questionable for this game. Myles Gaskin (1,282-19) was a key part of this offense though. He turned in a superb season for Washington.

Trace McSorley (3,228-26-8) had a silent, but really good season. He put up great numbers in Barkley’s shadow, having also rushed for 11 TDs. And boy, does he have options. DaeSean Hamilton (48-747-7), Juwan Johnson (48-635-1), and TE Mike Gesicki (51-501-9) are all over the field. Barkley (1,134-16) was another option out of the backfield with 47 catches for 594 yards and 3 TDs. He was also dangerous on special teams.

If I had to bet this now, I’d lean towards PSU and the under. Too many intangibles though. Wait until right before kickoff to find out if Pettis can go and Barkley is 100% playing. I hope they both play, it’ll make this a great game.
