The general consensus around the NFL was that the Eagles were done when Carson Wentz went down. Now we’re not so sure. Nick Foles has been here before, under center in Philadelphia. The transition was fairly smooth. They’re playing great as a team and have hardly missed a beat with him at QB.
Foles was 23/30 today for 246 yards and a 100.1 passer rating. That’s pretty solid for a ‘backup’ in the postseason. Jay Ajayi, although not showing the promise he showed last season, still put up 54 rushing yards and 44 receiving. Throw in Blount and you have a solid 2-man backfield. Alshon Jeffery will continue to be a threat, especially in the red zone. But Nelson Agholor may be the key to this offense at this point. In his 3rd season, he’s starting to show us what we saw at USC.
The Philadelphia Eagles were the favorite at one point this season to win it all. They slipped a little when Wentz went down. But they’re showing us that they’re more than just their QB. I love the team effort they show each week. And now they’re 1 win away from the Super Bowl. How can you not pull for them a little?
No matter who they face next week, whether it’s Minnesota or New Orleans, they won’t be fazed by any added pressure. They’ll go out and play their game. And it should be a good one. On a personal note, when we were in Vegas last March, my brother put money on them to win the Super Bowl. He got them at 30-1. I’m calling that a value bet.
