NCAA Tourney: Day 3

Day 3 didn’t start out with too much drama or excitement. The first 3 games were all won fairly easily. Villanova disposed of Alabama with ease. Duke never let Rhode Island get a sniff of a chance of winning. And UK pulled away in the 2nd half to beat Buffalo by 20.

And then came Loyola vs Tennessee. What a game this was. Loyola finished the first half on a run that gave them the lead at halftime. They simply didn’t let up. It came down to the Vols missing a shot at the buzzer to give Loyola the win. And yes, I needed Tennessee to win in order to cash my ML parlay. Life goes on.

The next game, Kansas vs Seton Hall, was exciting as well. KU led most of the game, but Hall never went away. Huge drama in the sportsbook as Seton Hall drained a meaningless 3-pointer at the buzzer to alter the outcome of bets in Vegas. Hall was a 4.5 point underdog and that shot covered for them. And if you’re wondering, yes, I had KU -4.5. Two parlays lost on last second shots for me yesterday.

Gonzaga came out strong early, leading 15-0 at one point. Ohio State fought back and made a game of it before the Zags sealed a victory. Texas Tech vs Florida was tight throughout the entire game. Tech hung on late and secured a 3 point win.

Michigan vs Houston. You’ve probably seen the highlights if you missed the game. This was an incredible game that epitomizes what we love about March Madness. It was back and forth all game. Michigan’s athleticism struggled with Houston’s defense all game. Houston’s resiliency kept them playing right along with the Wolverines. Houston missed 2 FTs with 4 seconds left…….and then Jordan Poole happened. What an amazing shot by a freshman. This is a clip we’ll see for years.

Another great day of basketball, Vegas was its beautiful self again, and the sportsbooks were hopping all day. One more day of this before I have to head back home to reality. Good luck today, guys.
