South Point, Las Vegas

I just got back home yesterday afternoon after a week in Las Vegas for March Madness. I came home to a snowstorm, but that’s beside the point. Vegas is a wonderful place to be, especially in March. It was another great week with friends, a couple family members, and simply enjoying the pleasures of South Point.

Now, this isn’t some sponsored plug or anything like that. I just want to give props to what I consider to be the best place in that city. When you go to Las Vegas, you have more options than you can count. A few years ago, I found South Point. It has been my home away from home ever since then.

The place is beautiful and perfectly set up. It offers a great variety of slots, table games, and sports betting. Their sportsbook is separate from the race area, which, to me, makes a lot of sense. There are 11 restaurants to choose from, a movie theater, a bowling alley, an equestrian center, spa, pool, gym……..ok, you get it. South Point has everything. Their book is open almost 24 hours. (they close for half an hour around 4:00 am) Coronado Café, an incredible place to eat, is open 24 hours as well. They have some excellent late night specials, under $5, between midnight and 6:00 am.

A couple other restaurants I like there are Baja Miguel and Zenshin. Baja Miguel has some pretty amazing Southwestern/Mexican food while Zenshin offers a wide selection of Asian dishes. But you also have options when it’s not meal time. A coffee café and an ice cream parlor sit near the lobby. And for a slice of Americana, head to Steak n Shake.

But now the most important part of South Point; the piece that makes it all come together. At least for me. Their customer service is top notch. I don’t mean just in Vegas, or just with hotels. They have the best customer service of any company that I’ve ever dealt with. This place is packed during March. Somehow they make each one of us feel as though we’re the only ones there. Yes, they’re that good.

Check out South Point when you’re in Las Vegas next time. Brent Musburger’s VSiN booth is right next to the sportsbook. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet Brent. I’ve met him on two occasions. Each time, he was so down to earth, so real, so…….human. Did I mention they offer a free shuttle to the airport? Seriously, check them out, get pampered, do Vegas right.

Well, I’ll be back in October. Until then, I’ll just dream of that teriyaki pizza at Zenshin and may even try to replicate it at home. Who am I kidding? There’s no way I could make it that good.
