It’s here. The NFL season begins tomorrow night. Let’s take a walk around the league.
Atlanta at Philadelphia: Eagles -1.5, O/U 45. Nick Foles getting the nod for Philadelphia with Wentz still not cleared to play. First week is always tough to bet, but reigning Super Bowl champs have usually fared well to start the following season. Bet accordingly.
Pittsburgh at Cleveland: Steelers -3.5, O/U 45.5. No Le’Veon Bell (allegedly), but the Steelers should still be ok. A revamped Browns team should be much better this season. The status of Bell at game time will dictate the wagers at most sportsbooks.
San Francisco at Minnesota: Vikings -6, O/U 46. The 49ers lost McKinnon for the season, they’ll rely on Alfred Morris and Matt Breida for the running game. Kirk Cousins should enjoy his new weapons this season. I like the Vikings to cover.
Cincinnati at Indianapolis: Colts -3, O/U 48.5. Andrew Luck is back, the Bengals OL is improved. Interesting matchup, I think the over hits early 4th quarter. WR John Ross could be the intangible that makes a difference here.
Buffalo at Baltimore: Ravens -7, O/U 40. Baltimore has a few new weapons this season, they should be fun to watch. The Bills, well, they’re starting Nathan Peterman. My early prediction is that the Bills get the 1st round pick next year. Ravens should cover easily.
Jacksonville at NYG: Jags -3, O/U 43.5. This is what we call a WTF spread. Seems like it should be higher after the dismal season by the Giants last year. But Vegas usually knows. Probably a low scoring game, I’d go with the under.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans: Saints -9.5, O/U 49.5. Here’s your weekly blowout. No Jameis for the Bucs, no Ingram for the Saints. I think New Orleans wins by 2 TDs. They may come close to the over by themselves as well.
Houston at New England: Patriots -6.5, O/U 51. How Deshaun Watson performs coming off this surgery will play a huge part on how this game goes. Tom Brady will be Tom Brady. I’m staying away from this game, but gun to my head, I like the Texans and the points.
Tennessee at Miami: Titans -1.5, O/U 45. Another WTF spread here, I think the Titans roll. I’m surprised this spread isn’t 6 or 7. Mariota, in my opinion, really breaks out this season. The Dolphins just don’t seem to bring much to the table.
Kansas City at LAC: Chargers -3.5, O/U 48. Here’s my upset pick, the Chiefs win this game outright. Mahomes will have this offense firing early. The Chargers will put up some points and this will be a really good game. I like the over too. Prediction: 30-27 Chiefs.
Seattle at Denver: Broncos -3, O/U 43. This is a coin toss game. Both teams have gone through changes since last season. Time will tell which team gels the quickest. Will Case Keenum repeat last season’s performance? Will the new Seattle defense be close to the teams of the past few years?
Dallas at Carolina: Panthers -3, O/U 42.5. Dak Prescott doesn’t have a lot of options when throwing the ball. Zeke will be carrying this offense. Cam Newton will do what Cam does. I see a ball control type of game, especially from the Cowboys side.
Washington at Arizona: Cardinals -1, O/U 44. I predict a small upset here with the Redskins winning this game. Sam Bradford will be under center until Josh Rosen is ready to take over this season. Alex Smith will play a very disciplined game as usual. Low scoring game, I like the under.
Chicago at Green Bay: Packers -7.5, O/U 47.5. Aaron Rodgers is healthy and he has Jimmy Graham now, although he lost Jordy Nelson. The Bears defense is scary on paper, making this an interesting matchup. I like the Bears and the points, but also scared of what Rodgers can do.
NYJ at Detroit: Lions -6.5, O/U 45. The Jets and Lions could possibly be fighting for who gets the 2nd pick overall next year. This could be ugly. Sam Darnold gets the nod for the Jets, Detroit defense will be licking their chops. Flip a coin on this one, I’m not touching it.
LAR at Oakland: Rams -5, O/U 49.5. The Rams have beefed up their defense and their offense should keep clicking like it did last season. The Raiders, fresh off a trade of Mack, are a bit in disarray. I think the Rams cover, but like the under.
